Sprayway Reaction Jacket: A Classic Reimagined

Sprayway Reaction Jacket: A Classic Reimagined

Reimagined, refined, and ready for big days out when the weather gods aren’t on your side.

Sprayway is proud to reintroduce the Reaction Jacket, a modern take on a classic hillwalking shell steeped in the brand’s heritage. Updated for Winter ’25, the new Reaction represents everything Sprayway stands for — function-first design, honest performance, and gear built for real hillwalking in real British weather.

Built around GORE-TEX’s new ePE membrane and a tough 150D recycled polyester face fabric, the Reaction is Sprayway’s toughest 2-layer waterproof yet. The longer-length cut and fully adjustable Hill Hood offer dependable protection, while thoughtful details, from mesh and taffeta lining for all-day comfort to adjustable cuffs and hem, make it a jacket designed to perform mile after mile.

With a 2-layer construction, the Reaction offers softer, quieter comfort compared to stiffer 3-layer shells, ideal for the damp, windy, and changeable conditions typical of the British hills. It’s designed for those who spend long days on the hill, not hanging from alpine walls.

“You’ve only got to put the Reaction on to realise what it’s all about. Fast and light it is not. Big and burly, it very much is. It’s got a supremely protective feel about it, not least because it has a generous, slightly oversize cut, which gives great coverage. The 150D recycled polyester face fabric only adds to this sense of invulnerability, because it’s absolutely bombproof. As a result, this really is a jacket for the worst weather. It’s not something you’d pack ‘just in case’, it’s something you’d wear from the start of the day when heading out on the foulest of forecasts; and as such, we’re talking wet-and-windy hill walks, not technical climbing.” - Rob Greenwood, UKC/UKH Gear Review
