Awesome Jacket

I took the Nyx jacket to Kurdistan Iraq with a group to climb the highest Peak Halgort.

We were success but experience some bad weather. The Nyx Jacket performed superbly. Excellent waterproof quality as you would expect, but what really impressed me was the design. It was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into the design and features of the jacket.
Pockets were a perfect position and big enough to hold a load of junk, but also acted as good ventilation when I was working hard and generating a lot of heat. Hood was very good especially when the rain and wind picked up.
Finally the cut felt snug and comforty unlike some other jacket I have had.

Sprayway offers waterproofing for walkers on a budget

Walkers on a tight budget looking for waterproof protection can gear up from head to foot for £200.

Sprayway’s Trek collection includes the men’s Nyx jacket and the Eos for women, offering Gore-Tex reassurance.

Both retail at £130 and have fixed, two-way hoods with snap-away feature, tethered face drawcords and hidden cord locks.

The jackets each have two-way front zip with external double storm flaps and a map pocket under the storm guard.

The waterproofs have part-elasticated cuffs with Velcro and tab adjustment and each packs away into the internal pocket.

Both the Nyx and the Eos feature two-layer Gore-Tex, and the women’s coat weighs in at 506g and is available in sizes 8 to 18.

The men’s jacket is available in sizes S to XXL and tips the scales at 569g.

To complement the jackets, Sprayway has the All Day Rainpant which includes a durable water-resistant finish and waterproof taped lining. Sprayway says the overtrousers are cut for ultimate comfort to keep walkers dry and protected all day.

The pants retail at £70 and continue to be a bestselling design for the Hyde-based company.

The trousers have a semi-elastic waistband, zip-fly front, two zipped pockets and are available in short and regular lengths, sizes S to XXL. The All Day Rainpant weighs 410g.

Purchased this coat last week but after several frustrating days I am still unable to fathom out how to use the snap away function on the hood. Some form of instruction would be great if available.
Rest of coat great although sizes could be more generous!

Winter Walks 7 - Porthgain, Pembrokeshire

Arguably our favourite coastal walk of the series, this walk provides what have been called "the best coastal views in the U.K." at Porthgain, Pembrokeshire.

From lagoons, volcanic peaks, cliff tops, exotic Welsh plants, bird life and lighthouses it genuinely gives it all to those who can brave it in midwinter!

Winter Walks 5 - Derbyshire

This walk is a little closer to home for us at Sprayway, based in the Peak District, Derbyshire. The Eastern Moors are particularly fabulous, particularly in Winter and this walk will let you see most of them.

Country Walking - Nyx Review

Country Walking have reviewed the Nyx Jacket in their latest waterproofs review, with a top 5 finish in and around jackets in the £200+ range, we're delighted!

"A fairly technical jacket that performs well without looking like high-end mountaineering kit. The shorter cut allows for a good range of movement in comfort. Technically the jacket performs well with the Gore-Tex keeping all rain out. The pockets are mesh-lined, so in theory they double up as vents, but the hip pockets are too small for this purpose. they are also a bit low to be accessed around a pack hip belt. The face fabric has a nice feel and is quiet too..

Joe Brown's Opens New Store in Llanberis!

Sprayway stockist Joe Brown, already with outlets at Menai Hall, Llanberis and Capel Curig, has opened a new store - the Corner Shop in Llanberis.

It's a fantastic bright, spacious store, an ambassador for how outdoor retailers could look. With a great range of Sprayway adults and kids garments on offer, in an array of colours, Joe Brown at The Corner Shop is definitely worth a trip.

Not only is the store itself fantastic, but being in Llanberis it is at the base of the Llanberis Path, so absolutely ideal for any walking ascent of Snowdon or indeed as a base for any walk in around Llyn Padarn.

Bought my other half this for his birthday and he absolutely loves it. Wears it every time he goes out on the hill or even his bike. He's also spoiling me rotten because he thinks I spent an absolute fortune on it...great value but shh don't tell 'im.

Graham Thompson - Nyx/Eos Review

I was wearing the new Sprayway Nyx (the women’s fit is called the Eos), a jacket that boasts a new design of hood which performs superbly thanks to a close fit and wired peak. The close fit is obtained by drawcord adjustment at the rear as well as the face. The drawcords were nicely tucked away too, to prevent them whipping you in the face. The wired peak was particularly good as it allowed me to keep my head down and see where I was going without the hood whipping my face or obscuring my vision. Most importantly of all, the hood moved with my head – so I could keep an eye on my pals as well as the summit without it blocking my vision.
The hood of the Nyx is also designed to be neat when rolled down. Often hoods have to be rolled into a collar, which restricts how they are designed, but this hood can be neatly press-studded to the collar.
The jacket is very short compared to other options, which may match the needs of climbers or less tall individuals. But for hill-walking, and being six foot myself, I’d prefer a longer design that was less likely to ride up and expose my midriff area.
There are two large pockets, which can be accessed while wearing a rucksack hipbelt, but they would be much more user-friendly if they were placed higher on the body and if their lining did not extend to the hem. There is also an additional chest pocket that is useful.
The hood sets the Sprayway Nyx/Eos apart from the competition but the body design may not match the needs of every hill-walker. So this is good jacket, but not a great jacket, despite the exceptional hood.

TGO Magazine

Sprayway have ticked a lot of boxes with the Eos (Nyx). It's 2-layer but there is a minimal amount of solid lining - from shoulders to cuffs down the outside of each arm, and around the skirt, with nylon mesh elsewhere - which reduces visible condensation.
There is ample room for layering. Side pockets are long but mostly blocked by a rucksack hipbelt, although the chest pocket is big enough to take a map. The hood folds back to become a collar. Released, it has a solid lining and adjusts well, with a useful wired peak and good movement. Fleece lining on chinguard and collar felt nice against the skin. Probably the best 2-layer in the test based on price, performance and overall design features.

Nyx Jacket

Graham Thompson, Technical Editor at Trail Magazine, who has been trialling the Nyx on Helvellyn comments “the jacket boasts a new design of hood that performs superbly”, reflecting the work that’s gone into giving this affordable trekking jacket the highest performance levels.

Loaded with features, including the new fixed, two-way adjustable, wire-peaked hood, mesh venting map sized pockets and articulated sleeves, the Nyx is not only lightweight, breathable and waterproof but packs away easily into it’s internal pocket.
