Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th September
Walking highlights include:
Grisedale and it’s Tarns A difficult walk as we go up to Lanty's Tarn and along the valley to visit Grisedale Tarn and the Brothers' Parting Stone. This walk is around 6 hours and dogs on leads are welcome. To book your space call 017684 82414.
Explore Fusedale Valley. Cruise to Howtown and explore Fusedale. Learn about Martindale's history and stroll back by the lakeshore for the return cruise. This walk is around 7.5 hours and dogs on leads are welcome. You will need £2 to pay for the ferry passage but it is well worth it for the views (and to avoid the extra miles on foot!!) Evening highlights include:
Stone Circles of Cumbria - John Waterhouse, author of Stone Circles of Cumbria book will be giving a talk on the fascinating stone circles throughout the Lakes. To add to the atmosphere this will be on one of the Ullswater Steamers! Tickets cost £3 and are available from Catstycam Outdoor Shop in Glenridding.
Mines and Minerals Talk - The critically acclaimed Ian Tyler will be giving his entertaining talk onboard an Ullswater Steamer. Ian has been leading tours of Keswick Mining Museum for years and his tours have become something of a cult attraction. A must see! Tickets cost £6 and are available from Catstycam Outdoor Shop in Glenridding.
Distant Horizons will also be offering a number of free outdoor activities throughout the week. Highlights on Monday and Tuesday include Pinnacle Ridge Scrambling, Mountain Navigation Training and an indoor climbing and abseiling session.
8Sep 10 Free Sprayway Gear
Yep, try Sprayway gear for free!
At the Ullswater Outdoor Festival in two weeks (only two weeks!), we will be giving you the chance to trial out Sprayway gear on any of the walks or activities, absolutely free.
We're not asking for lots of detailed feedback or for you to sign your life away for the chance. We just want people to try out our gear. For free.
It couldn't be simpler, just come along to the base camp on any day and a member of the festival staff will be able to help you out with a Sprayway Jacket or Fleece, which you can trial on your day enjoying the festival.
And in case you didn't notice...it's all free...

6Sep 10 New Retailer of the Month and Retailer Walk!
We've just added our Retailer of the Month and their Retailer Walk for September.
The winner for this month is Catstycam Outdoor, who have triple reason to celebrate this month. Not only is it their 21st birthday, but they've also just launched their new online store.
The store is a fantastic place to buy your Sprayway gear online, and to promote their 21st birthday will be running a massive giveaway with some great free sprayway products.

19Aug 10 Ullswater - Weekend 1 Highlights

As promised here are some of the things we are absolutely itching in our seats to get up to over the first weekend of the Ullswater Outdoor Festival!
Saturday 25th September
Walking highlights have got to include "Askham and Lowther Park" which will provide fantastic views both Lowther Park and the magnificent castle. Perfect if you plan on taking your dog with you, however a packed lunch and a waterproof are highly recommended! Places can be booked by caling 017684 82414.
Or, if you'd rather try something a bit different Distant Horizons will be providing Beginners Sea Kayak Tours throughout the day.
And if you've not got time for any of that, there will be a mobile climbing wall at the Glenridding Green all day, so if you've got a spare half hour, pop along!
Sunday 26th September
For a challenging but hugely fascinating 7.5 miles, the Green Side & Keppel Cove volunteer led walk is perfect. An above ground tour of the extensive remains of the Green Side mining activities set amongst stunning mountain scenery. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, and packed lunches are highly recommended! Call 017684 82414 to book your place.
If you'd like to infinitely increase your chances of getting wet, regardless of the weather, then try the 500m or 1 mile swim in Ullswater! This Open Water swim will take in some stunning scenery (if you take the time to look around), however it's filling fast, so call 01768 351689 to book.

From the 23rd - 26th September, at Nidderdale there will be 3 walks a day, including special interest and guided tours.
