I mean, this is the outdoors we're talking about here isn't it?

Yep. For free.

So you can take that jacket/overtrouser/baselayer out on one of the walks, scrambles or climbs and try it out for yourself. For free.

Check out the Ullswater Website to see what walks or activities tickle your fancy, and then when you arrive, come along to the Sprayway Stand at the base camp to choose your free trial gear!

30Jun 10 Trail - Kids Waterproof Review

Trail Magazine recently ran their review of kids jackets. Below is the Sprayway Hawk jacket review y Tomas McFarland - Aged 7.

"The jacket fitted well, and it was very comfortable to wear while climbing Tryfan. It was nice and loose so it gave me lots of room to move without the jacket riding up…”

“The sleeves were long but again this was great while stretching out on the climb up Tryfan. The cuffs, waist and hood are all adjustable. The jacket was 8-9 years and my mum said it was a good size for the age.”

“The hood on the jacket is not removable but it can be rolled up and secured with a tab...”

“The jacket was waterproof, so it kept me nice and dry. The zip had a flap over it with a button at the bottom to keep it secure so no water could get in. the material is nice and soft and I found it very comfortable. I think you could use the jacket at any time of the year. A fleece can be zipped into it, which I think is a great idea especially for the winter. On my trip up Tryfan the coat got very muddy, but it washed and dried in no time and looked brand new again."

Verdict:

"This is a great coat and my mum says it's excellent value for money. I looked cool on the hills, and stayed warm and dry. It would be even better if the hood stowed away in a zipped pocket."

21Jun 10 Sprayway Hydrolite Review

The Travel Editor has just reviewed the Sprayway Hydrolite Jacket, and it seems he was impressed - 8/10.

Pros: Stylish design, breathable and so water repellent that you can carry water in it!

Cons: Tech and style costs

Verdict: The perfect travel accessory - very cool, lightweight, waterproof jacket.

Review Highlights: Include some innovative testing of waterproof and windproof ratings, and of breathability. The Hydrolite came out with outstanding results:

“As you'd expect the water rolled off without visibly wetting the material or changing the characteristics.  Dry paper towels held on the reverse side remained dry.“

“Perhaps not the most scientific of tests but I can confirm that the Sprayway Hydrolite Jacket is very windproof up to, in my test, speeds of 30+mph.”

“In all three tests, the Sprayway Hydrolite Jacket passed with flying colours.”

“The jacket itself is quite fitted so there is minimal loose material to flap about.  However, the material also has a degree of stretch making it comfortable to wear. “

19Jun 10 Anakin Pro Trek and Mountain Review

The Sprayway Anakin Pro has come out on top in Trek & Mountain Magazine's review of lightweight summer Waterproofs. See below for the review or click onto their website here.

"Using Gore-Tex 3-layer Pro Shell instead of Paclite, the Anakin Pro feels quite substantial for a jacket that tips the scales at well under 400g. And it's this that makes it a real candidate for regular year-round use. It has a great good, with wired and stiffened peak; and it also has an excellant selection of well-placed pockets."

17Jun 10 Compass Short - Top Marks

New for Summer 2010, the Sprayway Compass Short score 5/5 on www.thetraveleditor.com

Sprayway Compass Shorts with Durable Water Repellent Finish.

UK Price: from £30

Pros: Stylish, lightweight, comfortable and water repellent

Cons: none....is that possible?

Verdict: Must have clothes for an active, outdoor life

"The Sprayway Compass Shorts have all of the features that you’d expect from an outdoor clothing company like Sprayway.  The shorts use TecWeave, a fabric that is exclusive to Sprayway, which is highly durable and lightweight. The Sprayway Compass Shorts weigh just 237g.  The fabric also includes 4% Spandex to give the Sprayway Compass Shorts a slightly stretchy feel. Clearly, this helps the shorts retain their shape but also means that they stretch as you move, making the shorts ideal for active users, as well as being very comfortable.

The Sprayway Compass Shorts are finished with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating, which I was obliged to test.  I ran the shorts under the tap for a couple of minutes but the shorts didn’t seem to absorb any water.  The water just formed droplets and rolled off. Even with the tap at full mains pressure, the water only briefly seemed to make the material wet although the same can't be said for my kitchen. Fantastic.

Despite being high tech, the Sprayway Compass Shorts are machine washable, albeit at 30 degrees, can be tumble dried and ironed.  They come in three, suitably manly colours - gunmetal, black and light khaki. OK...Sprayway need to drop the "light" because it's not that manly.

The Sprayway Compass Shorts are extremely well made with a shaped, semi-elasticated waist (on the hips only).  The shorts have a zip fly with button fastening. There are 3 zipped pockets on the front of the shorts and Velcro fastened pocket to the rear.  The thigh pocket is stitched in to the main body of the fabric so there’s no risk of the pocket liner hanging below the hem of the shorts. Finally, there is one internal zipped, security pocket.

But perhaps most importantly, for all style-conscious hikers, the Sprayway Compass Shorts look good so I was told by my wife!"
