Last week Head of Design at Sprayway, Julie Greengrass, took time out to visit Manchester Creative and Media Academy to deliver a session in the the role of a designer in the outdoor industry.

As a result of winning the 2009 Innovation for Extremes Award design teacher Lisa Alberti has been leading a group of 14-16 year old students in designing eco-friendly and functional outdoor products.

With the kids well into the scheme, Lisa called in Julie to pass on some of the secrets to great outdoor products and was delighted with the workshop "the session was fantastic, informative and engaging - pupils have gained an insight into the requirements of outdoor clothing, analysing existing products and developing ideas."

Head of Design Julie was suitably impressed by the talent on display and more than happy to get involved in this project that is getting fresh faces involved in, and enjoying, the outdoors.

Julie is hoping to get back into the Academy in the future to help further down the design process, and to check them out yourselves the aspiring designers products will be on display at this years Innovex Conference in April.
